The first shopping centre built in England was the Tafford Centre. It was constructed in 1996 and was open for operation in 1998. The shopping centre is located at the Greater Manchester area.

The Metrocenter mall in Phoenix, Arizona is a regional shopping centre with 130 stores. It was the Phoenix area's first major two level shopping mall, built in 1973.
Because there is more space of the outskirts that in the town centre, so they can build huuuuge malls and because there are more and more houses being built on the outskirts and the people have to shop somewhere.
The Eatons Centre was built in 1977
It was built in 1990 on the 25th of October
Sometimes new drainage systems would have to be produced to link your home to the towns. Also, you would have to have your electricity wired up. Another problem is that new roads may have to be built to link you to the towns and you would have to go further to get your shopping. Hope this helps :)
