Bourbon is always produced in the US. Also to be considered bourbon it must have the MASH made of at least 51% corn and be aged in a chard oak barrel that may be used only once. Kentucky Straight Bourbon follows the same rules but must be made in the state of Kentucky.

Jack Daniels, although commonly mistaken for Bourbon is listed as a Tennessee Whiskey due to technicalities in barreling, not geography. Whiskey does not have to be Kentucky to be labeled Bourbon as per European traditions regarding the philosophy of terroir. It need only be distilled from 50 or 52% Corn or more.
