Georgia was still an agricultural region during Reconstruction. With the end of the large plantation system came the beginning of a new way of farming.

He destroyed the South's main arsenal in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Sherman had cut the South's main supply line. Grant could continue to hammer away at Lee's forces with powerful artillery. North Carolina's main impact was to provide soldiers and supplies until the very end.
