From a North Americans standpoint.. the answer is yes.. of course it was a good thing.. otherwise we would all be crowded into much smaller places ,, all highly populated and probably unable to sustain orselves.. not to mention the wealth and economy that has been gained by the discovery of North America.

Without it,, the world would be a much different place.
