Did disciples go to the temple to have their lamb slain when they asked Jesus where he wanted to have the passover meal?

Just off the top of my head I would say yes. The Passover sacrifice went something like this. You would bring your lamb to the temple. The lamb would be slain by the person bringing it to the temple. Blood was collected in a golden and silver bowl and passed up to the priest who would offer the blood on the alter. During this time a hymn would be sung by that section of the Levites that were singers. (Keep in mind there would be many lambs sacrificed at one time by many persons as Passover was a very busy time at the temple.) Next the sacrificial lambs were hung up on hooks or on a pole carried by two men where the lambs were flayed, cleansed and the inside fat taken out and placed on the fire of the alter. Then the persons who had brought their lambs for sacrifice reclaimed their lamb and took it to the place they were going to celebrate the Passover dinner and roast the lamb. I am not Jewish so I don't know if the forgoing is completely correct but it is very close. I would say that yes the lamb that Jesus and His disciples partook of that night had been sacrificed at the temple.

What does Golgotha mean in the Easter story?

Golgotha is where the crucifixion scene happened on the eve of the Passover (some translations of the bible replace the word Passover with Easter). Talmud - Sanhedrin 43a On the eve of the Passover Yeshu was hanged. Passover (Easter) is the day on which the Israelites sacrifice their Lambs. It is in rememberance of their being freed from 430 years of Egyptian slavery. Golgotha is only about 200 meters from where the Passover Lambs were slain and hung, on the north side of the Temple Altar. The Easter story also includes his resurrection, which happened probably less than two hunderd meters south of Golgotha in the Sepulcher of Joseph from Arimathea. (east of the Altar, which was always used for placing the ashes (his corpse) Lev. 1,16. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, in which was never man yet laid. Joh 19,41

What is the relationship of the Passover to Jesus' death on the cross?

The passover meal remembers when God brought the Hebrews out of Egypt. They were saved by killing a lamb and putting the blood on the door posts of their houses. God brought them out of Egypt into a new life in the promised land. We are saved by the blood of Jesus - the lamb of God. Those who believe are saved out of this life (Egypt) to a new life in Christ- from bondage to freedom. Hope this is helpful.

Passover starts on the first full moon after spring equinox?

Passover starts on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of 'Nisan'. Prior to the establishment of the calculated calendar, which started during the Babylonian period although it wasn't finalised until much later, the beginning of Passover was determined by the first full moon after the spring equinox. However, Jewish holidays are determined by a mathematically calculated calendar that was fixed in the 4th century.Below is an answer provided by a Christian contributor and does not reflect modern Judaism nor the observance of Passover. The Jewish month is Nisan. It is the first month of the Jewish holiday cycle.Passover is the first day of the seven days of unleavened bread.Passover cannot be held until AFTER the moon is full. The moon must be full before sundown in Jerusalem, and that evening the Passover is observed. The Passover lamb is slain around 3pm the afternoon of the 14th of Nisan. It is then roasted. At sundown the Passover begins. This is the 15th day of Nisan. The 15th then begins the first day of unleavened bread and is also the day of Passover. There are many who believe the lamb was slain on the 13th of Nisan and then eaten after sundown which would be the 14th. This is not true. The lamb must be slain on the 14th or it is not the Passover lamb specified in the Laws of Moses (Torah). The rule to set Passover has been: the evening AFTER the first full moon that occurs after the spring equinox. The month is Nisan. The day is the 15th which begins at sundown ending the 14th.Happy Passover
