Was Pancho Villa ever in Tucson Arizona?

Yes Pancho Villa passed through Coyame Chihuahua (where both my parents were born.) My grandfather Don Salvador Navarrete told me when he was child Pancho Villa stopped in Coyame with a platoon of his rebel fighters. When the towns people saw Villa and his men riding into town, they were scared shittless and ran and hid intheir homes. (Coyame was and still is the county seat called "municipal" and on the side of the government) by the time Villa rode in, Coyame was a ghost town, except for some children playing outside one of wich was my grandfather. My grandpa told me that Villa asked him "Where are the men in this town?" my grandfather replied "my uncle Pilar is in the house" and Villa said "well then go call that cabron!" My grandpa says his uncle Pilar came out of the house fearing for his life. I dont know how long Villa stayed in Coyame or how often he made stop's in Coyame but all the old timers and many people in town have their Pancho Villa story's. So yes to answer your question Pancho Villa did set foot in the beautiful little town of Coyame many years ago. Thought I would share that story with you. How did Pancho Villa play his part in the revoulutionary war?

Pancho Villa was first and foremost a bandit. He had a large following in northern Mexico, where he was known as Centaur del Norte. He did, however, have an interest in unseating the federal government, and worked with Emiliano Zapata and Alvaro Obregon to unseat the government. His ferocity and ability to mobilize his forces caused the defeat of both Torreon and Zacatecas, and left Mexico City virtually defenseless against forces of the revolution. Villa's participation at Zacatecas was actually not what the other revolutionary forces wanted, they were afraid he'd win handily and march straight into Mexico City. When learning his allies were losing there, however, Villa force-marched his troops to the city and defeated the federal forces in eight hours. Villa did continue to Mexico City, and, according to one text, actually ruled Mexico for about two weeks, but his forte was raiding and revolution, and he had little interest in governing or politics. He left Mexico City, and eventually his revolutionary ally Obregon became the head of state. Villa returned to the north and resumed his bandit activities. In 1916, he actually raided a town and federal garrison in Columbus, NM. looking for weapons, ammo and supplies. Later, to curtail his criminal activities, he was given a ranch named Canutillo, in the Mexican state of Durango, I think. He also owned the Hotel Parral (in Parral), and was killed by ambush while traveling from Parral to the ranch on July 20, 1923. No one has proven who the killers were, but speculation is the hit was arranged by Obregon, who was now president and didn't want the popular Villa getting involved in national politics. Villa's real name, by the way, was Doroteo Arambula. If you're ever in Zacatecas, be sure and visit La Bufa, the site of Villa's attack on the federale garrison there. Now, let me pose a question on this subject. I was once in Ciudad Acuna, and visited the hacienda of a man introduced to me as Generallismo Jaime Jesus Quinones, who apparently was a soldier in Villa's army. He was proud of his association with Villa, and had an extensive trophy room. The guy was very old (this was in the mid-70s) and I'm sure he's dead by now, but he was fascinating, and I've not been able to find any reference to him anywhere. I'd like to know more about him.
