Yes, city of Xi'an was the eastern terminus of the Silk Road and it was the centre of silk trade.

Silk is something the Europeans wanted so they offered gold, ivory, horses etc. They made a safe route to trade which is named the "Silk Road." The farmers started to grow tea which became a popular drink this they also traded. Rise is also something they grew and traded.
