Was the God that gave us the ten commandments a bit of a simpleton in light of the extensive penal code man has contrived?

The laws by which God deals with mankind are simple yet elegant and powerful. God's commandments to man are simple so that any individual of normal cognition is able to comprehend God's will for themselves. But the individual has to want to understand God's will for them before God will reveal Himself. All men and women are weak according to the flesh and so we all sin. God has given us a simple but challenging remedy for sin. It is called repentance. This means to turn away from our sinful ways and change (with God's help) into a more godly being. Complexity comes by man and is weak. Complexity dissipates power. God is simple yet powerful in His dealings with man. He gives to man no more than they are capable of understanding and obeying. I think "simpleton" is a rather strange way to describe the most powerful and wise Being in not just in time and space but in eternity as well.

As a person who has undergone extensive elbow surgeries, I can tell you that any sort of arm strengthening workouts will be good for you if they are light weight and modified so that they don't strain your elbow. Dumbbell curls, tricep extensions, and variations of those moves are all good in light weight when trying to regain strength in the arm.

Let us first discuss the most famous commandments that of The Ten (Ex. 34:28; Deut. 10:4). The Hebrew name for these is the "Ten Words," hence the name Decalogue. They are also called the Covenant (Deut. 9:9) or the Testimony (Ex. 25:21). The giving of the Ten Commandments by God to Moses, and through him to Israel, is described in Ex. 19:16-20:21; 32:15-19; 34:1. They were engraved on two tables of stone, which were placed in the Ark; hence they were called the Ark of the Covenant (Num. 10:33). There has been a difference of opinion as to the way in which the commandments were divided into ten. The Roman Church, following the example of St. Augustine, unites what we know as the first and second, and divides the last into two. Our Lord, quoting from Deut. 6:4-5 and Lev. 19:18, has summarized the Ten Commandments in "two great commandments" (Matt. 22:37-39). To get their full significance we must read them in the light of our Lord's Sermon on the Mount (see also Mark 2:27 and Matt. 15:4-6 for interpretation of 4th and 5th), where it is shown that they are intended to control our thoughts and desires as well as our acts. Now, any command given by the Godhead or by any of the prophets is a Commandment, it becomes law and is no different to the above Ten, which were given as lesser commandments. To live the higher commandments i.e one must not commit adultery, but must not even think of of doing so as explained above.
