If I remember correctly from their point of view they 'lost the battle but they won the war' 2.*Their plan of attack was successful but their mission was not bringing the United States into WW2 eventually seeing the surrender of Japan and making the United States "Leaders of the free world"
While it was an initial success, it was a failure. The Japanese failed to sink or damage any of the US Aircraft Carriers. They woke a sleeping dragon that ended up swallowing them.
Pearl Harbor is located on the island of Oahu, a Hawaiian Island, a US terrirory in 1941. The Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor & other bases on Oahu on December 7, 1941 was a tactical success, but a strategic failure for Japan. Canada was the first nation to officially declare war (on Japan) after the attack. Japan's declaration of war on the United States, Netherlands, and the British Empire (including Commonwealth nations) was not accomplished until many hours after the Pearl Harbor attack.
the Japanese did not lull the US into an attack on Pearl Harbor. the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, not the other way around.
