Yes, it was speculated for a few years that the song was about Lautner. There were lyrics such as "your tan skin, your sweet smile" that strongly hinted at him. However, for a long time, nobody was talking.

Taylor Swift later acknowledged that the song was asking an ex for forgiveness. Some more time passed.

Finally, in an August 2016 interview with the cast of Scream Queens, Lautner's coworkers were teasing him about Taylor Swift writing a song about him. He replied and said it was called Back to December, confirming some long time suspicions.
