The axis started WW2 so in some ways they were thought to be ready. But Germany's navy was by no means ready. Admiral Donitz thought war (if any) would start in 1945 not 1939. so although the leaders were prepared the armed forces wasn't
Not entirely. While the US was trying to avoid going to war and we were forced into it by the events at Pearl Harbor, we had ample supplies, troops and equipment to actually go to war. In fact, we had been supplying allied forces for quite a while prior to officially entering the war ourselves.
No. It would have been impossible for them to do so. Even if Japan hadn't hit us really hard on December 7, 1941, we would have entered the war sooner or later and basically said 'ENOUGH'.
The Axis-powers, as really any evil alliance would, didn't really get along once they saw things not going their way.
Long story short, the Allied powers won World War 2.
They couldn't have conquered the world (as enthusiasts like to quote) but they each could have conquered their respective region; Europe & Asia. IF two events had not occurred: Germany never locked horns with the USSR & Japan never took on the US.

My Answer Below

Yes, they could have won, if not for their pathetic planning, their impatience, or the leader's stupid issues, and also if the Holocaust did not even exist.
Italy: Germany was stupid to have made a pact with it. It was more of a burden to Germany than an ally.
Japan: This is okay, as it helped Germans to invade Asia, and also attacking few of Soviet forces.
Germany: This has the biggest flaw written all over it. I have found quite ample proof that Germans had discovered the atomic bomb first, but Hitler just had to halt his scientists' advances in technology. Another mistake is going into war, even before the operational stages of the creation of the V1 and V2. He also had another mistake by the gamble in Kursk, his attacking Russia, and also the declaring war on United States, and also do not forget, retreating and hesitating to completely overrun UK, just to mobilize troops for Russia invasion, Operation Barbarossa.
Points needed to be said:
-German discovered atomic bomb first; a Japanese Kamikaze pilot, an Italian soldier, and a German SS were witnesses to the "mushroom-cloud."
-Hitler halted all scientific advances in technology, and also denied the forming of new weapons, and new strategies
-Attacking Russia while waging war with US is pure insanity
-Hitler should have invaded UK fully
-Oil supplies should be stolen from Iran and Iraq, instead of Russia; they have almost the same amount of oil and the Arabia is much easier to invade, probably needing only 10% of Hitler's full army and still push in with little difficulty
-Hitler was awful in planning; he should have been more strategic
-More cooperation with Stalin will ensure his victory to the Allies, thus able to fight Russia afterwards
-If Hitler had remained neutral to Soviet and managed to conquer the world, he and the two major Axis could plan an invasion of Russia, again, strategically and briefly, not stupid mad cow....like Hitler...
