Was the use of carpet bombing against your enemies in World War 2 nessary and ethical?

If you were Arthur Harris of Bomber Command, yes. The problem was that precision targeting of one's bombs was still a long way off, and the methods employed were far from pinpoint. If you were launching a bombing raid, you had to drop a lot of bombs in the area to be reasonably sure of hitting the target.
