It''s doubtful. The "time of the end," or, the "last time," or, the "end time" probably began when Jesus was born... when He caused the Truth of God's Word to be Illuminated and made to be "understood" by God's Children.
Daniel, who didn't understand a lot of what he was inspired to write was told:
"...Go thy way, Daniel: for the Words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end... none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand." (Dan.12:9-10)
Jesus "broke the seals" of misunderstanding in the book of Revelation [see chapter 6 & 8] and revealed the symbols of the parable that is the book of Revelation through His clear, plain and chronological explanation of them in Matthew 24.
The Jews in Jesus' day, who were reared in God's Word, thought they knew and understood the Scriptures... including Jesus' disciples. But before Jesus was done with them, they discovered that they had been as blind as Daniel:
"...Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures." (Luke 24:45)
According to The Bible, God regards the "wise" to be those who "fear the Lord" [Prov.9:10]... something that's acutally a rare phenomenon these days. Although the vast majority of the people polled claim to believe in some kind of god... not all of them include "faith in Jesus Christ" in their beliefs.
Even Jesus posed the question: "...when the Son of Man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8)
The "time of the end" probably began with the birth of Christ... not in 1914. Even John tells us, not that many years after Jesus' ascension into heaven:
"Little children, it is the last time..." (I John 2:18).
That was over two thousand years ago. But when you consider: "...one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and thousand years as one day..." (II Peter 3:8) -- well... Jesus has only been gone for approximately two or three days. now.
