Following World War I, the former Ottoman Empire was cut apart and numerous former Ottoman provinces became British and French Mandates. Additionally, following the Treaty of Sèvres in 1919, Turkey aceded to Italian, French, and British spheres of influence. This would have been direct colonization of Turkey. However, during the Turkish War of Independence, Atatürk forced the Europeans to abandon their spheres of influence and sign the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923, recognizing an independent and unified Turkey.

So, Turkey was never properly colonized, but there was the intent to do so.
