Was typing a private message in Facebook and my page went blank. Why can't I find what I was typing?

It's possible to lose a message in Facebook in the middle of typing it if you accidentally hit another key on your keyboard. Also, occasionally, Facebook will just drop a private message in the middle of typing. Once gone, it's gone forever, there is no recovery.
