the temperature will change because if you freeze water it becomes colder when you melt ice it become hotter. so basically you cant have the temp. not change during a phase change.
You can you change liquid water into a solid (ice) by lowering its temperature. You can you change liquid water into a gas (water vapor) by raising its temperature.
The unique feature of water in response to temperature changes is known as the anomalous expansion of water. When heated, ice and water first contract till the temperature exceeds 4 degrees Celsius at which point expansion starts.
