Gondoliers are oarsmen of the water taxi boats called "Gondolas" of the city of Venice. Thus they transport you round the canals of Venice.
It is about a 20-30 minute water taxi ride. You can take an express taxi for double the price, but it only knocks off about five or ten minutes from your ride.
By the port, I assume you mean where the airport and cruise docks are located? It's about a 20-30 minute water taxi ride into the mainland of Venice, which is where the Principe Hotel is. You can pay double the price for an express water taxi, but they are only about 5 to 10 minutes quicker than the normal taxis. Not worth it, in my opinion.
A Venetian taxi, commonly known as a "vaporetti," is a water taxi used for public transportation in Venice, Italy. These motorized boats navigate the city’s canals and serve as a vital means of transport for both locals and tourists. They are distinct from traditional taxis, as they operate on water rather than roads, providing a unique way to explore the city's picturesque waterways. Private water taxis are also available for hire, offering a more personalized and often faster service.
Italy
its built on water :)Venice is famous for many things but I think the main thing is that the city is built over water. There are no streets. Only canals. No cars only boats. Taxi boats, cops boats, bus boats. Etc.
A gondola is a small boat that can take only a few people. Motoscafi are motorboats, water taxis in other words, and vaporetti are ferries that take many people from place to place.

Tassì acquatici di Venezia is an Italian equivalent of the English phrase "Venetian water taxi." The phrase translates literally as "aquatic taxis of Venice" and will be used alongside taxi acquei in the city of canals. The respective pronunciations will be "tas-SEE ak-KWA-tee-tchee dee vey-NEY-tsya" and "TA-ksee AK-kwey" in Pisan Italian.
You can fly from the UK to Trieste's Ronchi airport, to Treviso airport or to Marco Polo airport (nearest to Venice). From Ronchi, you can take a bus (or taxi) to Trieste and then a train to Venice, Santa Lucia. The Trieste bus and train stations are next door to one another. From Treviso, you can take a direct bus, which leaves quite frequently, to Venice From Marco Polo, you would take a bus (or taxi) to the Mestre train station. Board there to go to the Santa Lucia stop, which is at the foot of the Grand Canal in Venice.
