The timing marks are at the front passanger side of the engine on the timing chain cover. It helps to mark the line on the balancer with chalk or white paint to make it more visable. To ease reaching the timing marks you can use Spak plug #6 on Pontiac V8s it is 360 deg opposite of #1 and will give you the correct timing. (Each cylinder only fires every 720 degrees of crankshaft rotation, so the timing light only shows every other time the mark on the balancer goes past). Pontiac used a removable sheet metal timing tab after about 1976 or so. They are sometimes missing if the engine has been disassembled. They are available from the aftermarket. WHERE is the timing mark on Pontiac sunfire 2.2l
The Pontiac Grand Prix has a Timing Chain with a spring loaded tensioner. The tensioner is know to wear, crack and then break. The timing chain and tensioner should be replaced at 100,000 miles. This is a pretty big job that can be done with the motor in the car. $$$ Ray

Technically you are supposed to replace the timing belt or chain every 60,000 miles. It is a costly expense to replace it so often but it can be far more costly if you don't. Since your vehicle has a chain the pieces can wear down and eventually break and shoot up into your engine causing catastrophic engine failure which can completely ruin your vehicle.
You don't Replace the timing belt at the recommended interval. If the engine is apart for other service any measurable wear requires replacement
They wear clothes , and there underwear has skid marks , and yeaaaa
There is no timing belt. It is a timing chain. I have 130,000 miles and have not had any trouble. It will start making noise when it is time. Unlike timing belts which will break, timing chains wear out slowly.
Yes, plastic coating on steel and not just the 455. Maybe for less chain wear or noise reduction. Every one I've ever seen when engine was tore down was cracked or broken.
Yes Timing Chains need to be replaced because they stretch out and Wear over time!
