Bicycles have become a bit tricky over the years.
There are two different kinds of 18-speeds:
And a chain for a 6-speed rear won't fit on a 9-speed rear, it'll be too wide.
You MIGHT be able to run a chain for a 9-speed rear on a 6-speed.
Chains are quite cheap, so it doesn't make much sense to get one from ebay.
There are two things to think about when getting a new chain:
Chains are usually sold over-long, and needs to be cut to length with a chain breaker tool before being joined back together.
Bevel gears can change the speed and motion and Worm gears can reduce speed and direction of motion.
Gears are a toothed machine part, such as a wheel or cylinder, that meshes with another toothed part to transmit motion or to change speed or direction.
difference between 3 and four speed is, a 3 speed has 3 forward gears. a 4 speed has 4 forward gears
Multiplying Gears- a device that increases the rotational speedReducing Gears- a device that decreases the rotational speed
The transmission uses a series of gears to transmit power to facilitate changes in speed .
Gears.
6 speed
a 10 speed bike use to be a bike, that has 2 chain wheels at the pedal and 5 chain wheels at the back wheel, thsu making 10 different combinations that the chain wheels can be used. it can also mean a 20spd road bike...but instead of saying 20spd we say 10spd as slang because it has 10 gears at the back and 2 at the front 10x2=??
6 speed or 6 gears how ever you want to look at it.
its a six speed
Well if you mean how many gears than a stock Firebird with a V6 is a 5 speed, a Trans Am with the LT1 or LS1 is 6 speed.
It actually depends on your rear end. You can replace the gears for speed or power but you really can't have both. If you have speed gears with 500 horses turning them you could strip them and if you have power gears you could still get up to speed with them but you could run into transmission problems.
