No. These are two different Christian denominations. Methodists are a Protestant denomination which traces it's roots to John Wesley, George Whitefield, and Howell Harris. Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which is a Restoration denomination and traces it's roots to Joseph Smith.
Methodists and Baptists are both movements within the Christian religion.
The Baptist churches started with with John Smyth in the Netherlands and the U.K., in the early 17th century. There are approximately 100 million Baptists worldwide. The largest single Baptist denomination is the Southern Baptist Convention (U.S.) with about 16 million members.
The Methodist churches started as a movement within the Anglican Communion, particularly in the U.K. and the U.S., with the preaching of Rev. John and Charles Wesley, in the mid 18th century. Today, the World Methodist Council is made up of 80 Methodist, Wesleyan and related Uniting and United Churches representing over 80.5 million people in 133 countries. I was in that situation 25 years ago. Methodist churches do have some that are more evangelical than others. If you can find an evangelical Methodist church, usually smaller than the "First Methodist of the City," then that would be the best of the compromise. Not to step on any toes but my spouse found the baptist churches in our southern town to be too judgmental for her Methodist upbringing. I found the Methodist church acceptable to my divergent beliefs in Bible study and I could still believe as a conservative baptist while still a member in the Methodist church.
