Mostly no.
A muscle car is factory built, and a hot rod, home built.
It's the Ford Mustang!!!!!!!!
The fact is that most muscle cars have big V8 engines that are built for raw power but the one problem is that muscle cars are heavy which import cars are not but the V8 can make up for it with most going over 400+ HP and there are not that many import cars that can match that, in the end pure power wins the race.
The first car he built and sold was the Quadricycle in 1896. He built and sold 4 of them.
By hand with trial and error.
the muscle car was built for performance not economy at least not the years 1966-1974.

The 1949 created Oldsmobile Rocket 88 is often referred as the first muscle car ever built. It featured a V8 engine in a carbody built for a V6 engine.
The Muscle car was "invented" in the USA There were many cars built before this in many countries that would have qualified to be Muscle cars, but the name had not been applied yet.
All I know is there is a Hyudai Kia engine plant in Montgomery Alabama. A car salesmat told me their engines were made by Honda..but it seems to me, that at most, there may have been a collaboration if anything.Mazda did make some of their engines prior to 1998. Now all Kia engines are built in house by Kia. The salesman was lying to you. Honda does not and never has built engines for Kia. Honda has built engines for Saturn.
It is a personal luxury car. It was built on an intermediate chassis, but the length of the hood categorizes it so. When equipped with a 428 (SJ option) I would consider it a personal luxury/muscle car. To qualify as a typical muscle car, which it is not, it would first have to be considered an intermediate car.
