In a word, no. You have a coin that was plated for use in jewelry or something similar.

The lowest denomination US gold coin was $1. It issued during the 19th century and was much smaller than a dime. If you think about it for a second or two, a coin the size of a half dollar made out of gold would have been worth around $15 even with the much lower price of gold in the 1920s. The government does some bizarre things, but losing $14.50 on every 50¢ piece they strike isn't one of them.

Not gold, and not 5 dollars. Gold coinage in the U.S. ended in 1932/33. You have a gold-PLATED walking liberty HALF DOLLAR. The good news is that the underlying coin is 90% silver so it's worth about $4-5 at current silver prices (05/2009)

How much is the 2000 gold liberty coin one dollar worth?

More information is needed. Are you referring to a circulation Sacajawea dollar with a soaring eagle on the reverse side, or a privately-minted piece with that date? If you have a Sac, remember it's not real gold but is made from a manganese-brass alloy that just looks like gold. There are billions of these in circulation and they will never be worth more than $1 in our lifetimes. If you don't have a Sac, could you please post a new question with more information including the coin's design and inscription? The Sac dollar is the only official US dollar coin from that year, so if it's something else there's no way to ID it without more details. Thanks!
