I think it's depending on the vehicle, there may be a spacer between the starter and the motor. There may be a shield between the starter and the transmission housing if your starter is bolted to the transmission.

Make sure all the lugs on the spacer will fit deep enough through the wheel an make sure the wheel well is clear by cutting alittle or lifting alittle, its pretty basic to do but i must say the rims wont stick out as far as most people like. the rim will set in alittle more but that's what the adapter will prevent. most spacer/adapters can be bought as new or used at most wheel an tire shops.
