So that they could be individually accounted for when they reached their destinations, and so that their parents could be informed where they were. Some children were very young, and might not reliably have known their home address.

The evacuees would be picked by the family. They would go down to the station and check the kids' ID, clothes and gender and then they would take the chosen child home.

You could go to a zoo or an aquarium. sit and enjoy a nice meal at a restaurant or something .Perhaps you want to go and see a movie ,do it with your family .You could even stay home and just play a game or two .Just do some arts and crafts together and just be a family.
