However, some children were used as forms of cheap labour, neglected and many rumours proclaim that some were beaten during their stay as a result of lack of manners, hygiene (such as the cases of those who wet the bed) and reluctance to work. Obviously, it is not possible to state that all evacuees had the same experience as they didn't, however it is fair to say that all evacuees would have been scared and homesick, thus although some may have had an enjoyable time, the experience was not weeks/months or years of a holiday style fun vacation, as it was War at the end of the day. It was a necessary procedure which some enjoyed and others unfortunately did not.
