Forget that previous answer. The 3.1 v6 in your Oldsmobile is part of the Buick v6 engine family. It is very similar to the other engines in the group. Some of these engine are used for performance applications, such as the 3800 v6. Some people have managed to swap out engines such as the 3100 or 3300 for the 3800 v6. this engine can be easily swapped in onto the existing engine mounts. If you are going to swap out your transmission for the one in the one on the 3800, then the transmission mount may need some modification. This engine has aftermarket parts available from a couple aftermarket companies, such as ZZ performance. This seems to be the most logical swap.
