It's actually located inside the engine in the same area as the timing belt.

As a matter of fact it takes the same steps to replace one as it does to replace the other. Because of the difficulty and expense of the operation, it is always recommended that if one needs changing then do the other one at the same time, even if it shows no indication of failing.
