Everywhere Christianity and Islam have spread, people who worshipped other gods have been hunted and persecuted. This applies to Egypt, although perhaps less so than in Europe, since the Egyptians quickly adopted Christianity as soon as it became prudent to do so, in the time of Emperor Theodosius I.
By the time of the great witch hunts in Europe, Egypt had long since come under Islamic rule and the people were therefore spared the worst of this evil.
