To know whether the Saptarishis are gods or not, we must know the seven basic Hindu gods.

THE SEVEN BASIC HINDU GODS

They are,

1. Indra - god of dreaming

2. Shakti - god of illusion

3. Brahma - god of creativity

4. Vishnu - god of stabilization

5. Shiva - god of determination

6. Shani - god of status increase

7. Yama - god of compulsion.

The seven gods are actually seven stages in converting an idea into an action in such a way that all activities are absolutely compatible with all other activities of life.

DISADVANTAGES OF USING THE SEQUENCE OF SEVEN GODS

1. An idea may get stuck up at any stage and thus can never become an action

2. We can't use half completed ideas of others.

THE SAPTARISHIS

The Saptarishis are seven parallel input/ outputs in this chain of seven gods and thus they too are seven in number.

They are like seven railway stations, which enable us to enter the train in any station and exit the train in any other station. The chain of gods is like a non stop train.

ADVANTAGES OF SAPTARISHIS

The Saptarishis enable us to,

1. Enter the chain of gods at any stage and thus use activities half completed by other people

1. Execute actions at a premature stage

2. Bypass one or more gods, like status quo maintaining Vishnu

SAPTARISHIS AND GODS

Mythologically, the relationship between Saptarishis and gods is very intimate.

1. Vasishta is the son of Brahma and guru of Rama

2. Jamadagni is the father of Parashurama, who is the sixth incarnation of Vishnu

However, their intimate relationship with the constantly changing real world makes their nature to change continuously. Thus, unlike gods, their nature is not eternal. Therefore, they can't be worshipped.

Therefore, Saptarishis are seven parallel interfaces between man and the seven basic Hindu gods and they are not gods.
