there were different ways in which the gods were worshipped
There are no differences. They worshipped the same Gods
They both worshipped multiple gods, and were the same gods with different names, ie. Poseidon=Neptune, Zeus=Jupiter.
For the exactly the same reasons gods are worshipped today
The Greeks. They worshipped the same gods but under different names. the roman god were more warlike and about respect.
They worshipped the same gods as the Egyptians but they also had their own Kushite gods like Apedemak.
for the same reason they worshipped all the other gods... fear- they worshipped these gods in hope they would be in control over things whihc they had no explaination for - crop cycles, thunderbolds, big waves, etc
In much the same way as they do now. Most religions are hundreds, if not thousands of years old.
Romans were more fierce, and more war-like. Greek was more like the opposite of that. Their appearance was also different. They also have different names, but they have the same powers. Romans also have different celebrations than the Greeks.

The ancient Canaanites worshipped much the same gods as did their Israelite cousins, except they appear not to have worshipped the Hebrew God, Yahweh. We know they worshipped Ba'al, Moloch, Tammuz (the shepherd god), the sun god, the moon god, Astarte, Asherah and many others.
When you worship someone you honor them. I think the view of the emperor would be affected in a good way if people worshipped the emperor while he was living. In my opinion the people would have a lot of respect. The citizens worshipped the emperor like they worshipped the gods. Loyalty to the emperor was the same as the loyalty to the gods.
