People protested for both points of view, but the people who were against the right to die were far more vociferous and gained more attention from conservative politicians who in turn tried to intervene in the case.
They are protesting because the rich people rarely pay taxes and the banks are raising fees.
People can get hurt or killed. People may be breaking the law by engaging in violence. People can make their point without resorting to violence. Violence can often undermine a protest as the protesters will be accused of being bad people and so their protest is not valid. It gives those they are protesting against something to use against the protesters. So for these and other reasons there should not be violence at protests.

Essentially, protesters claim that NATO is the cause of all the war the US is currently involved in, killing innocent civilians, and generally being capitalist pigs. This is a perfect example of hippies with too much time on their hands.

The people protesting in Ukrainian cities are anti-governent protesters. They were voting to drive out President Viktor Yanukovych, as many people resented his choosing an alliance with Russia over an alliance with the European Union. Moreover he was (rightly, as it turned out) suspected of embezzling and misappropriating huge sums of Government money. For three months anti-government protesters have been in a fight between the anti-government protesters and police. On the 18th of Febuary the fighting intensified with policemen being shot at by protesters. These protesters are ethnic Ukrainians. There are indications that at least some of them have connections with right wing extremist Ukrainian groups. As of April, 2014 the most active protesters have been mainly Russians and Ukraine citizens of Russian descent living in the eastern provinces of the Ukraine, demanding that these provinces be joined in some form with Russia. Active covert involvement of the Russian government is suspected here.
they think that they are protesting something, but they are pointless hobos
It was positive. Older people appreciated it. Younger people did too and they partied hard! If the bicentennial happened now with the political climate we have today, there would be some people who would oppose. It would probably be less positive. There'd be protesters in the street protesting it. Kind of like what we see now...
