The only battles that took place there occurred in May 1860, in the Utah territory, which later became part of Nevada (these battles occurred four years before Nevada became a state and joined the Union). The conflict was part of the Paiute War, or the Pyramid Lake War, involving two groups of Indians (as they were then called)-- the Northern Paiutes and the Bannock-- who were allied against the United States. The U.S. wanted to settle that land as part of the country's westward expansion.
Nevada was part of the Mexicans and California (1846-1848) Nevada was part of that war.
