Get a fully trained Quarter Horse. one that had been around the block. teenagers get frusterated when trying to train. do not get a young horse that still needs training! i wouldn't recommend an appaloosa they are highly known for having a temper. and get a gelding! mares and stallions get tempermental.
I recommend an Appaloosa, but there are many breeds that will do. Generally avoid high strung breeds like Arabians and Thoroughbreds (althought there are wonderful individuals in these breeds as well) Look for a gentle individual, rather than getting hung up on a breed.
What i did was i got a friend that has a horse or 2. i got them to teach me all about horses then i got a job and payed half for a good horse(and they payed the other half) and they tought me to ride.
I don't know if you've had lessons or leased a horse before, but if you haven't leased a horse, DO NOT BUY A HORSE!!!!!!! Leasing is a good way at knowing what owning a horse is like with out all the money and dedication. Lease at least two. Take weekly lessons. If you have leased a couple horses and you take regular lessons, you may want to ask your trainer if she/he can keep her eyes open for a good horse. Go to DreamHorse.com and click "Advanced Search". There isn't really a particular breed, but the type of horse, size, personality, temperment, and level. Also one thing that is CRUCIALLY important, is what discipline you want to do, if you want to compete, and what discipline the horse has been trained in.
It all depends on what type of riding you want to do. Make sure you know how to ride and that you have a passion for horses before you buy. I personally suggest quarter horses - they can go western or English, have good temperments, and are the most popular breed in the United States. I lease one and love her to death.
Answer
You should think carefully about buying a horse. You said you wanted a cheap one-so does that mean you don't have bagloads of money for this horse? Because horses cost a fortune to keep-after you've bought the horse, you've got stabling, bedding, food, tack, rugs, other accecories and insurance for you and the horse. But if you can afford it, go for it.
If you are reasonably small I might recommend a welsh mountain pony-they are brilliant first ponies with excellent temperaments and good for people new to horses.
If you are a bit taller and/or if you have experience, I recommend a quarter horse, and sometimes if you are incredibly tall a gentle-natured, friendly shire may be good-but be warned they eat a lot!
But really if you are looking for reliable information use books and special quizzes. All sorts of people use wikianswers, and information can never be completely reliable. You need to think this over very carefully.

One main disadvantage of owning a Chester White pig is that the males can be incredibly aggressive. This breed in general also has a problematic gain rate, and they do not produce much milk.

Labs are usually friendly. They are the most popular dog breed. Some labs are very wild.
Puppy food. Quality puppy food.
That would have to be the Shar Pei. They were originally breed for fighting over in Japan. Very cute to look at but be very careful if your thinking of owning this breed. Make sure you find a good breeder as some unforgiving flaws (aggression) can come through if not breed out properly.
Puff the magic dragon and BAM you'll see a red dragon or maybe a penguin. I did once.
Yes, it sure does - the only real drawback to owning a dog of either one of these beautiful and intelligent breeds.
I would not suggest a Jindo for a first time dog owner, as you need to be in control and the alpha at all times with this breed. However, for a seasoned dog owner used to owning a strong, intelligent and crafty dog, they are perfect.
