Roberto D'liatori was a renowned war poet from Italy. He was most prominent from 1914-16 and his most notable work was a poem called 'To Die In This Smoke'. Another poet, often known as his successor, was a French poet called Pierre Bernard. Active for just one year during the war, he was famous for his effective use of imagery and personification. Despite his short time on the battlefield, he wrote a number of well known poems. They are often found in Sonnet form and some of his most famous works include 'A Man On a Field' and 'Oh So Lonely'. Perhaps the most famous World War One poets is Wilfred Owen. I'm sure you will have looked at his works so I won't go into details with him.

As for World War Two poets, Marco Benito Colosa was very popular. He was put onto the battlefield as a medic and was disgraced by the pain of the soldiers. He said that he used poetry as a sort of release for himself. He died in 1944. One very interesting poet is a Polish poet called Omar Gryzbowski. He was a Jewish man who wrote about the Holocaust. He was placed in the Auschwitz death camp and his poetry was not discovered until around 1946 when the camps were liberated. One of his most famous and moving works is a piece called 'Let Me Go'.
