One of the most remote places I’ve visited is a small village in Vietnam called Mai Chau. It’s a hidden gem surrounded by rice fields, rolling hills, and traditional stilt houses. Unlike the bustling cities of Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, Mai Chau offers a peaceful retreat into nature. I stayed in a homestay with a local family, who welcomed me with delicious homemade meals and stories about their way of life. I spent my days biking through the rice paddies, hiking to nearby waterfalls, and learning about the culture of the ethnic Thai minority who live in the region. It was a beautiful and humbling experience.
