What does it mean to be a partner nation with NATO and how are these countries represented within NATO?
Several countries have developed partnerships with NATO without becoming full members. NATO's goal is to create dialogues between countries and help solve international conflicts. Some countries that have or have had partnerships with NATO include Russia and Ukraine. These countries are represented by Heads of Diplomatic Missions or Liaison Offices located at the NATO Headquarters.
Has Ireland been in any conflicts?
Through much of its history, Ireland has been involved in conflicts with the British in order to get their independence. Ireland has also had invasions from the vikings. Ireland is a neutral country, so it is not involved in any conflicts now and was not involved in World War II. In both World Wars many Irish men joined the British Army and fought in the wars, many losing their lives. That's an opinion type question that Canadians need to decide. Historically the Canadians have participated in various multi-national efforts & alliances, including NATO. These international efforts to cooperate with other nations in defense or economic issues have the risks of conflict. There is also the risk of conflict regardless of cooperation or alliances. Canada has been involved in the two world wars and the cold war as part of NATO. Canada has participated in peace-keeping operations in various parts of the world, and some of these involve conflict & danger to Canadian military & civilians. I don't think any country can really avoid conflicts over the long-term. History is full of examples of nations in conflict with others regardless of whether it was intended or not.

Nato did not exist during the Korean conflict. Actually, NATO (The North Atlantic Treaty Organization) came into being on April 4, 1949, so it did exist during the Korean War. NATO was an organization designed to provide mutual assistance in case of war in the areas around the North Atlantic (North America and Europe), so it didn't play any part in the Korean War. Some of the NATO members did participate in the Korean War, just not under the auspices of NATO.
