You take it to a veterinarian for examination and treatment immediately. While a puppy with a rounded abdomen may only have roundworms, they still need to be treated to protect your puppy's health. Other less common but much more serious problems would include intestinal obstruction, foreign body in the stomach or intestines or infection in the abdomen.

Make sure it's comfortable and gets used to the family and surroundings. You could play with him/her with a dog toy, play catch if he/she knows how and reward her with dog treats. Wait for about an hour before you can take him/her for a walk, let him/her play in the garden but keep watching him/her to make sure shedoesn't dig or go where she isn't supposed to.

You should have:
-A bed. (In a cage suitable size for the dog you are buying.)
-A cage. (See above.)
-Something that has your scent so the puppy won't be lonely at night.
-Something you want to use for house training. (Scent papers, ect.)
-Treats.
-A good brand of dog food.
-Make an appointment at your vet.
-Lots of toys.

- Possibly baby gate as well

to block of sections.

Also when your dog comes home put some water and food out, also put a lot of newspaper out, make sure you close any doors so the dog can't get in that room. If you live in the UK go to Sainsbury's or pets at home to buy some of these things above, I think if you haven't had a dog before you should buy a dog/puppy starter kit. You should probably put her on a leash and take him/her for a walk around the garden, get him used to where he sleeps, if he dose what he is supposed to (Sits when you tell him/her to) rewared him/her a treat. Give him/her alot of TLC but also give him/her privacy, I wouldn't let him/her off the lead for a couple of weeks when you take him/her for a walk.

Just make sure you have what is necessary to meet the dog's immediate needs--a crate, if you're crate training (and you should), a leash, food and water bowl (get steel bowls with a rubber bottom, because dogs like to tip them over), bedding, toys, treats for training, and, of course, food. Food: The puppy is already accustomed to a certain diet. You'll need to slowly wean her off that food by mixing the better food in slowly increasing amounts. Do not just switch. Ask your vet for a recommended brand of dry food. My vet and my brother (who was working as a pet nutritionist at the time) recommended Eukanuba for small breed puppy. It has less wheat than some other brands, which is good, because Yorkies have a tendency towards epilepsy, and wheat in kibble has been linked to (though not proven to cause) epileptic seizures (and experience has me fully believing that).

When you get your puppy, take her to the vet within 24 hours. The vet will test for worms and other serious problems. Your dog shouldn't COME with infections, though again, the vet will check her over for you. This is why it's so important to take her in immediately. Still, there isn't really anything you should have on hand for emergencies. By definition, an emergency isn't something you deal with yourself. If you notice a problem, take her in to the vet. It's that simple. Small dogs, and especially small puppies, however, do often have a problem with hypoglycemia (the dog will start shaking as if it's cold). This is easily remedied. When you go to get the dog's food, pick up a tube of Nutrical vitamin paste. A fingernail's worth of paste will solve this problem. Just make sure the dog also eats on a regular basis (every few hours at that age, eventually only twice a day). As long as it is defecating and urinating frequently and the feces isn't runny, the dog is probably fine. You will need to get the puppy's shots, but you probably already know that. Until she has had all of her shots, though, keep her away from your other dog. Aside from needing to watch for aggression from the Pincher, they shouldn't be together until the new dog is completely vaccinated.

If your dog is around the door it means he/she wants some time alone, also get a puppy exercise pen, so when it's raining your puppy can play in there. When you pick him up bring the crate and put it in your car so you can put him/her in when you take him/her home, also put about 2 toys in there. What ever you do don't be mean to your dog just say no and simply walk away if he follows you tell him to sit and stay. You could get a lead where it stretches and also get brushes and dog shampoo so you can wash him/her.

I hope I helped you!!!!

Feed it, Water it, let it sleep.

You could try to educate it in tricks, but because its so young, it might not respond.
