Hi - I'm an NLP Trainer and Therapist. To answer your question, no NLP does not cause positive changes undoubtedly. I've been in this field for over 10 years and have worked with and trained thousands of people. There are a number of people that NLP does not work for - yet, the majority of people I work with it does create positive changes. For the >10% that it doesn't work for the reasons are often because they are a) looking for a quick fix, b) are not ready for a change c) do not know what they want d) need a more concrete solution e) need more analysing of their problem or f) they didn't have the trust/rapport with their therapist. What is the difference between hypnosis and guided imagery?
Good question! NLP uses aspects of conversational hypnosis which was modeled from the work of Dr. Milton H. Erickson in the 1970's. Therefore, all of NLP has and uses some distinctions from hypnosis - in a very indirect manner. Hypnosis specifically however, uses more direct suggestions and is often a do-to therapeutic tool where NLP is more of a do-with tool. Please let me know if I can help further! Hi - good question! I have been in the field of NLP for over 10 years now as a trainer and a coach. I help people to identify where they are, where they want to be, what they need and have to get there and what might be blocking or limiting them. I then use the skills of NLP to help a person move from where they are now to where they want to be. Sometimes this is by helping to build resources like confidence, strength, belief or trust. Sometimes it is tapping into the resources a person already has, but may not have used for a while. And, sometimes I am helping a person to clear or change the barriers to their success. This might be unuseful behaviors, beliefs or emotions that stand in their way. So yes, NLP could very well be a key to success in any area of your life.
