Gabapentin is a unique medicine used in the treatment of neuropathic pain, restless legs syndrome, epilepsy, and hot flashes.

It is sold under various brand names but the most widely sold brand name is Neurontin. Patients suffering from partial seizures are also prescribed gabapentin.

The drug is recommended as the first line medicine for the cure of neuropathic pain in post therapeutic neuralgia, central neuropathic pain, and diabetic neuropathy.

Gabapentin is very useful in curing comorbid anxiety in bipolar patients. It may be effective in treating infantile nystagmus and acquired pendular nystagmus. It also helps in reducing pain and spasticity in people suffering from multiple sclerosis.
