What software does a hair salon use?

It depends a lot on how big the salon is, so I'd start there.

If you have two or three chairs and one person at the front desk, you don't need much: a booking calendar that doesn't double-book, a client list with past visits, and a simple way to make bills. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

Once you have more staff, more services and a few product sales, the problems change. Now it's "who is free at 5?", "who did that colour last time?" and "why doesn't the stock match?" That's when things like staff schedules, inventory and reports start to matter.

Whatever the size, I'd test one small thing: a client calls to move a 4 pm appointment to 5 pm. Can your receptionist do it in a few seconds without making a new booking? If yes, the software is probably fine for daily use.

One more thing worth asking any provider: what happens if the internet goes down in the middle of a busy day? Salons run into this more often than people expect.
