Are you talking about the first games or the 75th quarter quell?
Depends on which time you mean. At the beginning of the Games, Haymitch says to get away from the Cornucopia ASAP, knowing it would turn into a bloodbath. When Peeta falls ill, then it is understood without saying that Katniss should keep up the facade of star-crossed lovers, so she goes.
In "The Hunger Games", Katniss killed Marvel and shot Cato in the hand with arrows. Peeta never really killed anyone; the majority of the tributes were killed in the beginning of the Games because they headed right for the Cornucopia.
* Sparks flew *
peeta and katniss both go back into the hunger games they are both still playing the star crossed lovers card. katniss surprisingly gets pulled out of the hunger games and peeta is left by himself regretting his deicions.
In The Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta first go up onto the roof in order to talk privately. Peeta claims that "the wind is quite loud," and Katniss takes this as a clue that no one will hear them there. There Katniss tells Peeta of the time she and Gale saw the red-headed Avox girl in the woods outside of District 12. Later both Katniss and Peeta find each other there the night before the Games begin. Both can't sleep and Peeta discusses how he does not want to be changed while within the Games.
Okay, first of all, Katniss does not know if she loves Peeta or Gale. Her feelings are really mixed up and she has a hard time making choices. Also, SPOILER ALERT!!! (I may be about to spoil the book for you if you continue reading). If Katniss doesn't look like she is madly in love with Peeta--some of the people in the Capitol aren't falling for it--then President Snow threatens to kill Gale and their families. Katniss and Peeta's relationship is confusing for them because Peeta (and even Katniss, sometimes) can't tell when or whether Katniss' feelings for Peeta are real- or just an act for Snow. Catching Fire really explains that Katniss is not that good with this act. Peeta actually loves Katniss, so it bothers him that Katniss has to act. Still, Katniss finds herself falling in love with Peeta. This is made worse by the fact Peeta says to the capitol audience that Katniss is going to have a baby so if Katniss survives, the capitol is going to be wondering 'So...where's the baby then...?'
She doesn't get to see Peeta because Peeta wants to kill her. Peeta was kidnapped by the Capitol and they used trackerjacker venom to corrupt the images of Katniss in Peeta's head so that when he sees her, he will try to kill her.
Their trust, and ultimately a little more time for Katniss.
Haymicth always calls Katniss a sweetheart. Most of the time he means it in a sarcastic way.
its because the capitol hijacked his memories and its makes him hate katniss. The Capitol hijacked Peeta's memory about Katniss and is supposed to think she is his enemy and has to kill her.
In the first book she receives burn medicine for her leg, some bread from district 11 just after Rue dies, some sleep syrup so she can sneak away to the feast to get the medicine for Peeta's leg, ( she gives the syrup to Peeta) and the medicine to heal Peeta's leg, which she receives at the feast. In the second book, the original allies, Katniss, Peeta, Finnick and Mags, receive a spiel to get water from the trees, and that group and johanna, beetle, and wiress revive rolls giving clues for the time of their rescue. Hope this helps!
Peeta would be curious about Gale because Katniss of whom he likes spends a lot of time with Gale.
