NO! Border collies have endless energy and must be constantly mentally and physically stimulated. They are best, of course, where they can herd sheep, as they were bred to do.
I think its because they were bred to be sheep dogs and so they are designed for that stuff.

So they were bred to help herd sheep and sometimes cattle but usually just sheep as they are smaller and sheep will usually run away but a cow might chase and hurt the dog.
Border Collies got their name because they were originally bred & used on the border between Scotland and the UK, so the people there decided to call them Border Collies. :)

That is what they were originally bred for: to work for a shepherd to handle sheep. But many today are just household pets and thus don't work. Collies are still used in many countries as sheep dogs and provide a vital role in the farming industry
