Heat and pressure!!
Both are composed of minerals. Some sedimentary rocks contain pieces of igneous rocks.
What two thing's change a sedimentary rock into a metamorphic rock
sedimentary rocks and metamorphic
Metamorphic rocks are igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks that have been altered by heat, pressure, or ion exchange. Therefore, there is a wide range of metamorphic rock component material.
I was once taught Sedimentary rock is the most common rock found ON the Earth's surface. This is due to the constant work of erosion wearing down igneous rock and uplifted metamorphic rock and reforming the sediments as sedimentary rock. Sedimentary rock is of two types: 1) formed form detritus and 2) formed from organic materials. Erosion explains the prevalence of the first type, while the death deposition and decay of ancient living things explains the second( lignite, coal, etc. ).
Igneous rock can weather and become sedimentary rock . Metamorphic rock can be melted in a volcano and become igneous rock. Igneous rock and sedimentary rock can be heated and pressurized to form metamorphic rock.
Heat and pressure are required to produce metamorphic rock from sedimentary or igneous rock.

Metamorphic. By contrast, igneous rocks form from lava or magma, and sedimentary rock form from sediment. Those things are formed from previous rocks, but constitute intermediate stages: igneous and sedimentary rocks are formed indirectly from previous rocks.
There are three main types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and composites. Igneous rocks are formed when sedimentary or composite rocks experience extremes of heat and pressure. Sedimentary rocks are formed when smaller particles are overlaid for extended periods of time. Composite rocks are formed a mixture of elements under pressure.
sedimentary rocks and metamorphic
Chemical: Minerals were dissolved in water to form it. Organic: Formed from the remains of living things. Clastic: Formed form bits of other rocks.

If the rocks are igneous then in general:- Coarse = slowly. Fine = fast. However if the rocks are metamorphic or sedimentary then grain size has nothing to do with cooling and indicates other things.
