Ephesians 6:4 "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

Psalm 127:3-5 "Children are a heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man, so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that has his quiver full of them. They shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate".

Also, many of the New Testament scriptures that highlight God's role as a father to us are a pattern for human fathers to follow.

There are many references in the Bible, King James Version, that refer to fathers:

Proverbs 4:1-2 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

(Pro 23:22) Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.

(Pro 23:23) Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

(Eph 6:1) Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

(Eph 6:2) Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

(Eph 6:3) That it may be well with thee, and thou may live long on the earth.

(Eph 6:4) And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

(Col 3:20) Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

(Col 3:21) Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
