The Articles of Confederation were not successful at all. It is widely believed that this is because the Federal government had no true power and the states were too concerned with their own affairs instead of working as a cohesive group. The United States had a challenging experience with the Articles of Confederation. The central government was weak and lacked the power to effectively govern the country. It faced difficulties in areas such as revenue collection, defense, and interstate commerce, which ultimately led to the drafting and ratification of the Constitution to create a stronger federal government.
