Christmas is not a holiday in Thailand. Most Thais do not notice Christmas. The commercial Christmas does occur in Bangkok for the same reason as everywhere.
Decorations etc happen in places to attract tourists. Tourism is an important part of the Thai economy.
But if they are Christians, of course, this would mean more than that.

Being Buddhist, or Muslim in the south there isn't a Father Christmas. In Thailand it's business as usual Christmas day. The big festival in Thailand would be their new year (around 13th/14th April) known as Songkran.

Thailand has a universal healthcare system that is means tested.
Thailand people celebrate Christmas but not all people. Thailand people celebrate Christmas as a usual Day, Such as: Working going to school going home Etc. Why? because All Thailand people are not all religious. if a town does celebrate Christmas they hang up a Christmas tree and do whatever Christians do, Celebrate.
Only Christians in Asia celebrate Christmas the same as Europeans and North Americans
Australia;Thailand; and,Uruguay.
