The United, after the bombing of pearl harbor, pursued the Island Hopping Strategy. This is when the U.S. would attempt to capture all of the small Islands surrounding a main Japanese base, which would hopefully be cut off supplies after the Americans captured said Island. This would make it easier to capture large bases, because it provided military support. The "allies" did not collaborate as much as they did in the war on Germany during the war on Japan because, among other things, they were preoccupied in Europe.

Island-Hopping .
The Allies were on the opposing side of the Axis powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan.)
Invading Japaneses- held island in the pacific
The overall plan was to defeat the axis forces. Particularly Germany, Italy and Japan.
China was on the ally side of the way while Japan was on the axis side. Since the allies won, China is credited with victory as well, and Japan is credited with defeat.
Because the Allies were on the opposing side; the Allies didn't agree with what was happening in Europe. America only joined the Allies after Pearl Harbor, which was caused by Japan. Japan was a member of the Axis, and thus an ally of Germany. The Allies (especially Britain, during the Battle of Britain), proved that they weren't going to let Hitler achieve his plans.
The primary objective of the Allies in World War 1 was to eliminate Nazi Germany on the Western Front. They also wanted to end Japan's supremacy in the Pacific.
