My school recommended the following to me which has proved very helpful in my experience:
First, get a reputable clinical psychologist to do a full "psycho-educational assessment." (maybe ask the school psychologist and/or learning disability center to appoint one).
Then, ask your General practitioner to refer you to either a Psychiatrist or Neurologist. Take the assessment with you and present it to them.
Visit the doctor

Go to a doctor.
Unfortunately, some with ADHD do not respond to medication. Consult your doctor about other proven treatments for ADHD like behavioral therapy and meditation.
by taking medicine which you can get subscribed by your doctor.
Concerta is made to treat ADHD. You would have to ask your doctor about the possibility of treating PTSD with Concerta.
If a person displays many symptoms of ADHD [see related questions] one could suggest a person has ADHD. In some cases, such as inattentive subtypes of ADHD a person would not display obvious external symptoms. Only a doctor can confirm a diagnosis of ADHD.
The diagnostic guidelines for ADHD varies in different countries and one could look up standards for a diagnosis, however only a doctor can officially diagnose and treat a person with ADHD. Possible risk factors for having ADHD include low birth rate/early birth, exposure to smoke or alcohol, and parents/siblings who have ADHD; a doctor would then make the final determination.

Nothing. I'm guessing that one doctor told you that you had ADHD and then another doctor told you that you didn't. This doesn't necessarily mean that either one was wrong. Most doctors now will say that ADHD is a disease, but some stubborn conventional doctors still say that ADHD isn't a disease but a personality, or that it doesn't exist. They are right in a way, but whether ADHD is a disease, a personality, or nothing at all, ADHD medications definitely help a lot of people. -DJ Craig
