Tissues have many varying functions in the body. There really is no easy answer to the question, however in general, the function of human tissue is to organize together so that we may have organs. Tissues are made up of several cell types. Several types of tissues make up an organ. Function and structure are complimentary to each other. For example, a single layer of epithelia tissue functions in diffusion and filtration. A thin layer would not be very good at protection.
