Have to remove the door, then remove pins and bushings
The best thing to do is to purchase a complete new hinge assembly and replace it. These GM type vehciles were notorious for the hinges going bad.AlsoIf you take the hinge out most part stores sell the repair kit (the brass bushings and new steel pins) in their HELP! section. It's not too hard to do. I have a 86 Monte and the doors sis sag down and you had to slan them shut, but all you need to do is replace the upper pin, not the whole hinge. you need to take your door off and hit the pin out and put the new bushings back in the right spot and you have to mallet in the pin whenthe bushings are allready in place. your going to need a jack with a towel over it or another perosn to help put the door back on.
How do you change the door hinge pins and bushings on a 2002 GMC 1500 pickup truck?"
Most problems with an automobile door hinge is worn out bushings. There is a small rubber bushing behind the adjustment bolts. Replace the bushings.
i replaced mine and i had to first take my door off by unbolting the door from the hinges. the stock pin in their is tough to get out i had hit it out and then slide it out from the bottom. then i had to knock the cracked bushings out. then when that's all out you put your new bushings in the right places and the you have to mallet the new pin in, then after that i connected my door ( with some help their heavy) and now i don't have the sag or have to slam it really hard anymore.
Hinges or Hinge bushings are worn.
Yes
There is no such thing as a 2009 Monte Carlo
No
Hold the end of the door with a jack, grind the head from the old pin, knock out the old pin, remove the door half of the hinge, drill out the hinge to accept the new bushings, install the new bushings, re-bolt the hinge to the door, finally, insert the new pin and install the C clip
Replace the hinge pins and bushings.
